THE GENESIS
Having not taken a technology based course since high school (if my memory serves me right), this course serves as both a personal challenge to me while simultaneously stimulating my interest in the subject. Obviously, with the inevitable and current progression of society, teachers must adjust the way they teach classes at least in some capacity, with the times. I do not think every class should completely change in the way it is taught as a result, however, I do believe teachers will need to have knowledge of how to incorporate technology in the classroom. Once I receive the textbook in the mail I will post a blog on my reaction to the chapter we are assigned to read. Thank you for your time.

Jason F,
ReplyDeleteI think for those of us who aren’t computer savvy, this course will be both challenging and exciting. I know how to get around on the web and things like that but for the purposes of using technology as a tool to teach the student’s, I am at a lost. The first class wasn’t so bad and I hope the rest of the course goes as smooth.
Don't worry about where you are beginning, all that matters is that you find ways to improve your skills a bit more. As you mention, technology is a predominant facet of our society, and one we must stay on top of if we expect to be successful as educators. I agree with what you say: the construct of classrooms and learning does not need to be completely redefined, but rather just improved and built upon. I am a strong champion of hard copied books and will be devastated if they are ever completely replaced by their electronic counterparts. That's not to say I don't enjoy my Kindle lol.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading these blogs it seems like we are all in the same boat. Although we have grown up in an age of great technological advances and use it continuously, we are not fully aware of how to use it to enhance our lessons in the classrooms. I believe that courses like this will really help us to understand how to get students engaged in the learning process through the technology that is available to us.
